MIDDLEBURG - H. Arlene Snook, 84, of RR1 Middleburg, died at 8:05 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Geisinger Medical Center, where she had been a patient for the past week. Born Nov. 11, 1917, in McClure, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Mabel (Erb) Brininger. Surviving are: two children and their spouses, Donna and Ronald Shambach and Ronald and Tonna Snook, all of Middleburg; a brother, Alton Brininger, Bradenton, FL; seven grandchildren, Michael Snook, Denise Krebs, Wendy Zechman, Steve Shambach, Kelly Shartzer, Rodney Shambach, Derick Shambach, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a companion of 30 years, William B. "Red" McCardle. She retired from Juniata Garment Factory in 1982. She had also worked for Cluett-Peabody Garment Factory and the Charles T. Saylor Shirt Factory. From 1962-69, she owned and operated the former Snook's Restaurant. She was a member of St. John's Ridge Lutheran Church, RR2 McClure, where she was the choir director earlier in life. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, embroidery and loved animals, especially her dog, Tar. Her funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Ridge Lutheran Church, RR2 McClure. Interment will be in the Black Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call 4-9 p.m. Sunday in the Beavertown chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W.
