Marie Kley Paulsen Bring (age 88) passed away peacefully in her home on October 1, 2009. Marie was born March 22, 1921 to Charles and Laura (Breidford) Kley Sr. in their home in Birch Bay, being one of the first babies born in the newly homesteaded area. She attended grade school at Birch Bay and graduated from Blaine High School where she was an excellent student. Marie had three children, Karen, Charles and Laurie Ann with her first husband Kaare Paulsen, and two sons, David and Darwin with her second husband Clarence Bring.
She will be remembered for her artistic ability in a variety of areas as well as the beautiful decorating she did for all the holidays and the four seasons. She was a super cook and could bake anything. Marie was a lifetime member of the Unitarian Free Church in Blaine.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Karen (Bob) Sprague; son, Darwin Bring; grandson, Rob (Crystal) and their children, Rory and Christina all of Bellingham; granddaughter, Laurie (Bruce) Pederson and their children Mya and Zoe of Ferndale; grandson, Slade (Annette) Bring; granddaughter, Holly Reed and son Levi of Ferndale; daughter-in-law, Sarah Paulsen of Blaine; sister, Lorraine Anderson of Blaine; sister-in-law, Alice Kley of Ferndale; uncle Leonard Breidford of Blaine; step daughter, Cecilia (Earl) Botorf and their family of Oregon and many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence Bring; sons Charles Paulsen, David Bring; daughter, Laurie Ann Paulsen; brother, Charles Kley Jr.; sister, Jane Christensen; stepsons, Richard and Milton Bring and ex-husband, Kaare Paulsen.
Special thanks to caregiver and friend Carol Burton and to the nurses from Hospice, especially Elyse and Denise. There kindness will never be forgotten. Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Enterprise Cemetery in Ferndale, WA. A reception will follow the graveside service at the Unitarian Free Church 1218 Harrison Ave Blaine, WA 98230. Memorial contributions may be given in Marie's name Hospice House building fund 800 E. Chestnut Suite 1C, Bellingham, WA or the Unitarian Free Church in Blaine.
