Obituary, Harrisburg "Patriot", 16 Aug 1933 (Wednesday): Alfred Brine, retired sergeant of city police, died yesterday at his home, 1512 Swatara street. He was 69 years old.
Brine was appointed to the police force by former Mayor Vance C. McCormick. After serving on the police force twenty-eight years, he was retired three and a half years ago. For five years preceding his retirement Brine served as sergeant of police.
He was a member of the Derry Street United Brethren Church, the Fraternal Oder of Police, Harrisburg Commandery, No. 61, P. O. S. of A., and Hall of Washington Camp, No 630, of the same lodge.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ida Quigley Brine; a son, J. Howard Brine, Washington; a daughter, Mrs. C. H. Bixler, Lemoyne; a sister, Mrs. George Miller, Campbellstown; two brothers, Christian Brine, Penbrook, and Charles Brine, Nebraska, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 o'clock Friday morning at the home, the Rev. Dr. A. S. Lehman, pastor of the Derry Street United Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Rolling Green Cemetery, near White Hill. The body may be viewed at the home tomorrow night.
