William H. Bridges, III - SPRINGFIELD - William H. Bridges, III, died Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the home of his daughter under the care of Hospice Savannah. He was born in Savannah, GA, the son of Ouida Aiken and William H. Bridges, Jr. He was raised and educated in Nashville, TN. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII and the Korean War. He retired, after 37 years as an electrician from Union Camp in Savannah. He was a current member of Guyton Christian Church (Guyton) and a past member of Morningside Baptist Church (Savannah) where he was a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Bridges; mother and father; and wives, Ruth T. Bridges, Beulah P. Bridges, and Hilda M. Bridges. He is survived by seven children, Thomas Bridges (Shirley), Joseph Bridges, Virginia Clary (Ronald), Diane Rigelwood, Carolyn Whitis, Cay McConnell (Bobby), Barbara Williams; three step children, Jerry Mobley (Becky), Linda Bacon (Jerry), and Ellen McPeters (Danny); 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by half sisters, Kathy Bevacqua (Mark) and Patty Rubin (Mark); and half brother, Michael Bridges. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey East.
