J. William Brewer 83 of Route 2, Clinton, died at the Vermillion County Hospital at 1:05 pm Thursday following a four weeks' illness.
A lifetime resident of Vermillion County, Brewer was born on Sept. 12, 1871. He was a honorary charter member of the Daughters of America Lodge, and during his lifetime has been active in union work with the local mining industry.
He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Effie Stultz, Route 2 Clinton, with whom he made his home. Mrs. Susie Moore, Mrs. Hazel Berry and Mrs. Evelyn Wheeler, all of Detroit, and Mrs. Hannah Lindley of French Lick, Indiana; two sons, Thomas Brewer, of Indianapolis and John W. Brewer of Detroit; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to the Frist Funeral Home to remain for services at 1:30 pm Thursday.
Rev. R.C. Linberg will officiate and burial will be made in Riverside Cemetery.
