Marilyn E. Simons, formerly of the Marigold Apartments in Lyndonville, passed away peacefully at her sister's home Thursday evening, Aug. 15, 2013 at the age of 82.

She was born in St. Johnsbury Center on Feb. 23, 1931, one of five children born to Truman and Beulah (Gregory) Brewer.

Marilyn was a very dedicated lifetime member of the Auxiliary at the VFW Post #10038 in Lyndonville. She was also a member of American Legion Post #30 in Lyndon. She enjoyed playing bingo as often as she could, dancing, cooking, and canning her own vegetables from the garden.

She is survived by her daughter Cindy Collier of Littleton, N.H.; two grandchildren Rebecca Favreau of St. Johnsbury, Heather Favreau and Jeff Gould of St. Johnsbury; 2 great-grandsons Zachary and Ethan; sister Barbara Brewer of St. Johnsbury; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Truman Brewer; two sisters Donna Allard and Norma Brewer, a niece Norma Mae Shumway, and her companion Lloyd F. Miller.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. at the St. Johnsbury Center Cemetery with Mr. John Sleeper officiating. Anyone wishing to attend is welcome.
