Lettie Lucretia (Breth) Baker 1855-1932

Lettie was born in Bethlehem located in Bell Township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania on July 18, 1855. According to family history, Lettie was a twin. Her twin sibling died young. When Lettie was 14 years of age, her mother, Margaret, aged 36, died after giving birth to twins the previous month, in June 1869. Lettie cared for her younger siblings following their mother's death on July 28, 1869. The twins died in September 1869 from "Cholera Infantum". Lettie was nearing the age of 17 when her father Adam Breth married Maria G. Armor on April 1, 1872. Lettie, 26, married Henry Baker on October 4, 1881. They were the parents of eight known children. To honor their 40th anniversary in 1921, the Baker family held a reunion at the old home place in Mahaffey, just down the road from the Banner Ridge Church. Henry died about a half a year later at the age of 66 of prostate cancer. Lettie died suddenly at her home in Banner Ridge at 7:00 a.m. on February 24, 1932 at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 6 days. The cause of death was undetermined but thought to be "apoplexy". Burial was on February 26, 1932 in the Banner Ridge Cemetery.
