Marie Catherine Brennan, age 99, of Canton, MO. died Sunday, December 19, 2010, at the Lewis County Nursing Home at Canton, Mo.

Marie was born September 7, 1911 in Lewis County, Mo to James W. and Emma M. Zerrull Bader. She married Thomas Brennan on May 10, 1932 at St. Patrick, Mo. He preceded her in death April 24, 2001. They resided and farmed most of their married lives on the family farm in south Clark County, Mo and both were lifelong members of the Shrine of St. Patrick parish. At the time of her death, Marie was the oldest living member of the congregation.

Marie graduated from St. Patrick High School and attended Culver-Stockton College. After receiving certification for teacher education she taught at Plano School near the Derrahs community for several years. She was a charter member of the Daughters of Isabella Circle #808 of St. Patrick and was a 60-year member of that circle. She was always very involved in parish activities and fundraisers and was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Society of the parish before moving to Canton. She also served as an election precinct worker in Clark County for many years. Marie was a tremendous cook and she enjoyed reading, crocheting, flowers and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her six children, Carolyn Kamp and husband Paul of Des Moines IA, James V. Brennan and wife Robyn of Janesville, WI, Janice Hahn of Maqouketa, IA, Carl M. Brennan and wife Nancy of Hampton, IL, Martha Harrison and husband John of Flower Mound, TX, and Mary Lindsey and husband Gene of Canton, MO: 26 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman and Carl Bader; three sisters Verna Pearl, Louise McDermott, and Ruth Bader; a son-in-law Lavern Hahn; and a granddaughter Whitney Leigh Harrison in infancy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the Shrine of St. Patrick at St. Patrick, Mo. with Father Richard Frank and Father James Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in th St. Patrick Cemetery at St. Patrick, Mo. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Davis Funeral Home from 4:00 until 8:00 pm., with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Shrine of St. Patrick Church at St. Patrick, Mo. or St. Patrick Cemetery Association also at St. Patrick.
