Mr. James Turner Braxton, Jr., 74, of Washington, passed away May 14, 2014 at his home. A native of KIinston, N.C., he was the son of the late James Turner and Carrie Mae Humphrey Braxton. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Braxton. Mr. Braxton was a retired shipping manager from Almar/Essex Manufacturing and a member of Clifford Grove Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Church Secretary.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 16th at 11:00am in Clifford Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Barry McAvoy and Rev. James Bowen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with James Bowen, Carey Davis, Alexander Bell, Gerold Drinkard, John Sutherland, Buddy Vandiver and Tommy Beard serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife of almost 53 years (June 11), Judy Braxton; daughter and son in law, Teresa and Paul Williamson, Washington; sons and daughter in law, John Braxton, Lincolnton, James and Ansley Braxton, Hull; sister, Joan Braxton Lyles, San Antonio, Texas, brother, Joe Braxton, Charleston, S.C.; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
