Edgar Warren Brasfield, 86, of Brandon, MS passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 29, 2013 at Trinity Mission. Born in Hollandale, MS to Charlie Leroy and Estelle (Carson) Brasfield, he lived most of his life in Vicksburg and Brandon, MS.
He was proud to be a veteran having served at the end of WW2 and in the Korean and Vietnam Wars during his 20-year military career. He worked as an air traffic controller in the Army and then moved to a second career with the FAA Flight Service in Birmingham, AL and Jackson, MS.
Edgar was a Mason in the Masonic Lodge. In his spare time he was an avid Braves fan, enjoyed reading, gardening, woodworking, joke telling and spending time with his family.
Edgar was a passionate man who enjoyed his family. He was extremely loving and proud of his four children, John Brasfield and his wife Theresa, Arley, AL; David Brasfield and his wife Kathy, of Clay, AL; Robert Brasfield and his wife Jody of Vicksburg, MS; and Marcia Below of Gulf Shores, AL. He is also mourned by his loving wife and best friend of 63 years, Jeanette (Baroudy) Brasfield as well as his 6 loving grand children, 5 great grand children, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday July 1, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Ave, Vicksburg, MS. 39180. The funeral will be held Tuesday July 2, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St George Antiochian Orthodox Church, Vicksburg, MS. Memorial donations may be made in Edgar's name to St George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 2709 S Washington St, Vicksburg, MS 39180 and Crosses Across America, 3300 Indiana Avenue, Suite C, Vicksburg, MS 39180.
