A 1933 graduate of Houston High School, he played on basketball teams at Houston and Cabool.
He married Elaine Agree Oct. 14, 1939, at Salem.
Mr. Branson lived at Raymondville all of his life, where he was a farmer and retired mail carrier. He served on the Allen Cemetery board for 30 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Houston.
He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Surviving is his wife, Elaine.
Services were Jan. 16 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in the Allen Cemetery.
