Bertha M. "Tookie" Barnard, 83 of Fort Smith, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, November 5, 2016.
She was born March 3, 1933 in Fort Smith to the late Harry and Dorothy Brannon.

She was a member of Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church where she was a member of the Piece-fully Yours Quilting Club. She was a cook at Belle Point Elementary School, prior to that she was a cashier at Kroger's. She was a graduate of Fort Smith High School, Class of 1952. "Nanny" loved her family, especially all her grandkids. She was a fabulous cook and loved cooking for everyone. She also had a love for trains, especially the Frisco Railway where her daddy and baby brother were retired engineers. Most of all she loved going to church to worship the Lord and loved all her church family.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church with burial to follow at Forest Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Manford Barnard of the home; a daughter, Christie Smith and her husband Rickey, of Joplin, MO; a son, Lee Barnard and his wife Shelly, of Fort Smith; and a sister, Jean Myers of Bartlesville, OK. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a special sister-in-law, Phyllis Gasaway of Fort Smith.

Pallbearers will be Brent, Shane, Tim and Steve Smith, Joshua Barnard and Nathan Wilson.
