When 9 years of age she came with her parents to Lafayette, Star county, Ill., and in 1850 they removed to Louisa county, Iowa. Then in 1854 they removed to Monroe county and with the exception of a months residence in Missouri, that had been her residence to the time of her departure. She was one of the pioneer school teachers of Monroe county.

On September 11, 1856, she was united in marriage to Thomas Brandon. To this union were born one son and six daughters. Those left to mourn her departure are the aged companion, one son, T. T. At the time of her demise she was at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clara Massman, where she had gone only the day before her death to spend a few days.

The funeral services were held from the M. E. church at Iconium, conducted by the Rev. Lafayette Shafer and interment made at the Iconium cemetery. Six of her grandsons acted as pall bearers. Many relatives and friends were present to witness the last sad rites and extend sympathy to the bereaved ones.
