Mr. Brand was a son of Washington and Catherine Clawson Brand and was born in East Tippecanoe county, Indiana, on Jan. 29, 1855. He was married to Miss Agnes Muse on Nov. 24, 1881. Surviving are the widow and two sons, Charles W., of Bloomington, Ind., and Elmer, of Tippecanoe county; also two half brothers, Mort and Roy Brand; a half sister, Mrs. Fred Osterday, and four grandchildren. Three brothers, Samuel, Orlando and Alex, preceded him in death.
Mr. Brand was engaged in farming until 1920, when he retired and moved to Mulberry. He was a member of Trinity Reformed church and the Odd Fellows lodge.
The funeral service will be conducted at the home, Sunday, at 2 p. m., by Rev. C. J. Snyder. Burial in Dayton.
