Donald Richard Branch

Donald Richard Branch, 71, of Hwy 18 South, Morganton, NC, died Thursday, April 6, 2006 at his residence following many years of declining health.

Born in Burke County, NC, on March 12, 1935, he was the son of the late William and Bertha Mae Brittain Branch.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Shad and Luther Branch, and a sister, Ethel Branch.

Mr. Branch was a member of Walker's Chapel Baptist Church and a retired employee of Drexel Heritage Furnishing. Before he became ill, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Donald is survived by his wife, Ruby Hice Branch of the home; a son, Allen "Pancho" Branch of Connelly Springs, NC; a daughter, Kaye Mourglea and husband, Andy, of Connelly Springs; grandchildren, J.P. Johnson, April Johnson, Jessica Branch, Saharia Mourglea, and Andrew Mourglea; and a great-grandson, Hunter Johnson.

The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 9, 2006 at Walker's Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie LaFevers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the church. At other times the family will be at the residence, 4301 Hwy 18 South.
