Sadie Mae Bragg Baughn

BELPRE, Ohio — Sadie Mae (Bragg) Baughn, 89, of Belpre, died on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at CCMH, Parkersburg, W.Va.

Sadie was born on July 26, 1924, at Prince, W.Va., to Samuel H. Bragg and Dartha (Ward) Bragg.

Sadie rode a passenger train to attend Montgomery High School. Her first job was for the war effort at Triumph Explosives, Elkton, Md. Later she was a telegraph operator for the C&O Railroad at Prince and Thurmond.

Sadie was preceded in death by her husband Basil T. Baughn; brothers, John, Jessie, Elbert and Bud; sisters, Clara, Mamie, Margie and Lana; an infant son, an infant grandson, infant twin great grandchildren and a special sister-in-law, Wilda Bragg. Sadie was the last surviving member of her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, JoAnn (Woody) Davis; son, Bill (Peg) Alexander; granddaughter, Carmen (Ric) Hayman; grandsons, Brian (Missy) David and Charles (Sandra) Alexander; great granddaughters, Samantha Davis and Lily Hayman; great grandsons, Jacob Hayman, Josh Alexander and Jacob Alexander; nieces, Rita Phillips, Diane Withrow and Penny Cummins and Sadie's beloved best friend, Queen Schoolfield.

Sadie's Family Sends Thank Yous and Blessings to: Cora and Randy Welch, Shirley Jones, Dr. John Onestinghel and staff and the nursing staff at CCMH - 5 North.

Sadie's wishes were not to have a public visitation and funeral. Family members and friends will meet privately for a "going home" celebration. Entombment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Arrangements are by Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, Ohio and High Lawn Funeral Chapel, Oak Hill.
