DECATUR -- William "Bill" E. Braden, 93, died Saturday, January 17, 2015. William was a World War II Army veteran, a life member of the VFW, and past commander of Decatur VFW Post 99.

William was born on May 20, 1921 to Arthur D. and Elva E. Braden of Maroa. He Married Elizabeth Bennett on September 12, 1942.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Elizabeth; a daughter, Susie Smith (Dave); a son, Bennett; granddaughters, Erica Duncan (Tim) and Carey Kogol (Mike); a grandson, Scott Smith (Amanda); a great-grandson, Mountain Duncan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family burial will be held, with military rites by the Macon County Honor Guard.
