Susan Elva Braden of Decatur dies at 102
DECATUR - Susan Elva Braden, 102, of Decatur died 3:10 p.m. Saturday (April 15, 2000) in Imboden Creek Living Center.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Maroa Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Imboden Creek Living Center, Alzheimer's Association or Maroa Christian Church.
Mrs. Braden was born in Kenney on July 13, 1897, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Isaac Armsey. During and after World War II, Mrs. Braden was a presser for Osgood Garment Factory. She was a member of Maroa Christian Church, VFW Post 99 Auxiliary and Women's Council. She married Arthur D. Braden in 1915. He preceded her in death in February 1967.
Surviving are her sons, Leonard Braden and wife Pauline of Pekin; William Braden and wife Elizabeth of Decatur; daughters, Norma Hockaday and husband Harold of Tucson, Ariz.; Mary Lou Thomas and husband Mac, deceased, of Dayton, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, five sisters and one great-grandchild.
The family wishes to thank Imboden Creek Living Center for their tender loving care Elva's last 8 1/2 years.
