Lt. Col. Wentworth Brackett, combat Veteran of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam, became a master navigator with over 15, 000 flying hours of service. He was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, AFCM w/1 OLC, WW2VM, KSM w/1 BSS, UNSM, NDSM w/w/1BSS, AFRESM, DUC w/ 1 OLC, AFLSA w/1 S1LOLC, ROKPUC, AFOUA w/1 OLC, AFEM w/2 BSS, Vietnam Service Medal and an AFEM w/3 BSS.
He entered the Army Air Corps on May 25,1943. He married Marilyn Maxine Kennedy on Oct. 19, 1952 on Peaks Island, Maine. Shortly after, he was assigned to Hickham A.F.B. in Honolulu, Hawaii. Only one day after his wife's arrival at HAFB, he was sent on temporary duty to Enewetak Atoll for the special H-bomb project.
