The memorial service for Donald Allen Braatz will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church, 404 Center Avenue North and Highway Street, in Dodge Center, MN with visitation one hour before the service.
Donald Allen Braatz, 67, passed away on January 26, 2014, at his home in Rochester. Donald was born on January 26, 1947, the son of Erwin and Gladys (Klatt) Braatz in Fairmont, MN.
Donald graduated from West Concord High School and attended Concordia College, where he played football, basketball and baseball. He transferred to Winona State College until he went in the US Army. Following his discharge he graduated from Control Data. Donald wrote programs for long distance telephone switches and helped install them. He worked for various companies and lived in many states. He retired from Ericsson, Inc. in Dallas, TX and moved back to Rochester. He was an avid sports fan. He played softball and coached many softball teams in various states. Donald was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dodge Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Corrine Honoree and twin-sister, Darlene Luedtke.
Donald is survived by his sister, Doris (George) Gilman, Dodge Center, MN; brother, Roger (Marilyn) Braatz of Kissimmee, FL; and nieces and nephews.
Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Dodge Center assisted with arrangements.
