Nellie peacefully passed away Monday January 7, 2013 following a brief illness. She was born in Nashville, GA on November 29, 1918.

Nellie was the fourth of nine children of the late William M. and Mary Brown Boykin. She was married to the late Thomas W. Bailey on November 18, 1948. Tom passed away August 2, 1980. She was predeceased by sisters Jewell B. Mathis, Joyce B. Chapple, Stella B. Cox, and brothers Junior Boykin and Jack D. Boykin, Sr.

Nellie is survived by 3 sisters: Jane B. Griner of Jasper, FL, Betty B. Bennett of Nashville, GA, and Polly B. Hendrix of Evans, GA.

Nellie lived a blessed life and was truly loved by a host of nieces and nephews. She was able to live an independent life and took care of her home. Nellie's joys in life were knitting and crocheting for family members, mowing her lawn, cooking for her family, and playing cards with her friends. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Tifton.

A graveside services will be conducted at Westview Cemetery in Nashville, GA Thursday January 10, 2013 at 4:30 PM with the Rev Freddie Stone and Rev. Wayne Roe officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to a church or charity of choosing. The family will receive friends after the service at 110 Smith Ave, Nashville, GA, "The Boykin Home Place."
