Woman Dies at 95; 133 Descendants
Annie M. Bowmaster, 95, Arendtsville, died in the Warner Hospital at 5:35 a.m. today where she had been admitted with complications following a fall at her home on August 15. Her husband, John W. Bowmaster, died in 1936. A native of Virginia, she has resided in Adams County since her childhood. She was a daughter of the late Frank Shultz and Emma Bercaw Shultz. She attended the Mt. Calvary Methodist Church, Orrtanna, and was formerly employed as a housekeeper for the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Toot on
Baltimore St. for many years. For the last 12 years she resided at Ahrendtsville. She is survived by 133 descendants. There are nine children, Lawrence E. Bowmaster and
Charles C. Bowmaster, both of Orrtanna, R. 1; Guy N. Bowmaster, Lititz R. 3; Mrs. Ruth E. Curry, Lawntown, Pa.; Mrs. Anna Simpson, Marysville; Mrs. Blanch M. Baker, Gettysburg; Mrs. Grace E. Deatrick, St. Thomas; Mrs. Florence Flickinger Swope, Ahrendtsville; and Mrs. Alice M. Gouker, Bell, Calif.; 32 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Peters Funeral Home with the Rev, Edward Ziegler officiating. Interment will be in Flohr's Lutheran Church Cemetery, McKnightstown. Friends may call at the Peters Funeral Home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m." [The Gettysburg (PA) Times. September 4, 1975]
