Daughter of John Bowman and Mary Sawyer. Julia was born in Elma, Howard County Iowa. Her family moved to Cresco, Iowa in the same county. Her family also lived in Arkansas until moving to Salt Lake City, Utah where she spent her teenage years. She was in the choir of St. Mark's Cathedral in Salt Lake City. Julia also attended Rowland Hall for girls. Since 1964 Rowland Hall merged and is now for both boys and girls. She married Owen Adkins on August 4, 1910 in Salt Lake City. Moved to Milford, Beaver County, Utah where my grandfather had his first dental practice and lived there until 1920 when they moved to Santa Monica, California. Julia died in 1965 as the result of an automobile accident.

The birth of Julia Bowman was most likely on December 18, 1888 which shows her at 12 years of age on the 1900 census.
