Sidney's obituary was published in the 11-14-1918 edition of The Current Local, Van Buren, Carter Co., MO on the front page (used with permission).

Sidney Bowman was born at Ellsinore, Carter County, Mo., February 1, 1898, and departed this life November 4, 1918, at the early age of 2 years, 9 months, and 3 days. He was united in marriage in 1916 to Miss Myrtle Berry at West Eminence, Mo. Besides a wife and small child, he is survived by his father, L. M. Bowman, seven brothers, Ira, Roy, Quilla, Claude, Monroe, George and Robert, and one sister, Jewell, all of whom were with him when death came.

He has passed from life unto death, from labor unto rest, and to the bereaved ones we would say that while it is impossible, of course, to dispel the dark cloud of grief that appears at the loss of a loved one, let us all so live that when the final summons comes to us that we too may be permitted to enter into that kingdom eternal, where sorrow, sickness, and death are forever unknown.
