Married Joseph H. Montgomery 6/01/1892 in Rock Island County, IL. After his death married Louis Zimmerman July 1912.

(The Rock Island Argus - Aug. 1, 1922)

Mrs. Louis N. Zimmermann, aged 49 years, who was injured Sunday afternoon, July 23, when the automobile in which she was riding with her son, Harold Montgomery, was struck by a Rock Island lines train on Vandruff's island, died at 7 o'clock last night in St. Anthony's hospital. Her death was very sudden.

She apparently was recovering from the accident, but yesterday afternoon suddenly relapsed and failed rapidly.

The accident happened when Mrs. Zimmermann and her son were returning from his camp on Vandruff's island. As they were ascending the steep embankment which led up to the railroad track, Mrs. Zimmermann is said to have looked to see if the train was coming. The train bore down upon them suddenly, struck the automobile and hurled it down the 30-foot embarkment. Mrs. Zimmermann was pinned beneath the wreckage. Her son was thrown a distance from the car. Both were badly bruised and lecerated about the body. Mrs. Zimmermann also suffered internal injuries. The son is still at St. Anthony's hospital recovering from the injuries. His condition was impaired last night at hearing of the death of his mother but it is believed that he will recover.

Mrs. Zimmermann was popular in lodge circles and held membership in the Court of Honor, Eudora Rebekah lodge, No. 73; May Flower camp, No. 101; Royal Neighbors; Helen Gould auxiliary, No. 7. She was also a member of the Spencer Memorial church. Besides her lodge associations, Mrs. Zimmermann leaves a host of friends to mourn her death.

Surviving are the widower, a son, Harold Montgomery and two daughters, Mrs. A. E. Simonson and Mrs. Harold Percy, all of Rock Island. A sister, Mrs. Sarah Olson, Rock Island, and two brothers, John Bowes, Rock Island, and Henry Bowes, Washington, Iowa, also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the family residence, 1308 Fourteenth street. Rev. Frank Marston, pastor of the Spencer Memorial church, will conduct the services. The Rebekah lodge will be in charge at the grave. Burial will be in Chippiannock cemetery.
