Raymond Leon Bowers
Raymond Leon Bowers, 59, of Caldwell, died Dec. 22, 2005, at the Veterans Hospital in Boise after a short battle with lung cancer. Raymond was born Nov. 15, 1946, in Caldwell to John and Mildred Bowers. He was reared and attended schools in Caldwell, pursuing other education at The College of Idaho for a Music Ed. Major and National College in Rapid City, S. D., for Computer Business.
He entered the U.S. Army in May 1968, serving in Germany and San Francisco as Computer Systems Operator and finished in the Army Reserves being honorably discharged May 1, 1974.
Following the service he held various jobs, including Auto Body Prep and Auto Mechanic. Prior to his death he was employed at Inclusions Inc. Music was his greatest love and greatest talent. As a singer, he had earned the respect of his peers. He was the guitarist, and lead singer, and leader of his band, The American Jade.
His relationship with Patricia Munson began Sept. 5, 1982, which lasted for 23 years until his death. Together, he helped raise Pat's five children, Karen, Kathy, Janet, Ronnie and Donnie, as if they were his own.
Survivors include his mother, Mildred K. Ray, of Nampa; four sons, Lincoln S. Giltz, Raymond Holt, John Leslie Bowers, Matthew Bowers, all of Nampa; a son, John Raymond Bowers, of Caldwell; a son, David L. Bowers, of Marana Ariz.a; a daughter, Rita Shelton, of Eugene Ore.; a son, Elvis Holt, of Elko Nev.
His father precedes him in death.
Special friends include his closest friend and fellow musician, Mike 'Doc' Holladay, and Steve and Jerrie Nelson of Black Hawk, SD.
Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at The Karcher Church of the Nazarene, Nampa, by Pastor Allen Gibson.
Graveside services and Military Honors will follow at noon at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery on 10100 N. Horseshoe Bend Road.
