This story comes from the Boutwell Quarterly: Written and Publist By: Willis Boutwell Volume #1 Apr.-June 1996
Oldest child of Bud Boutwell and Qumira Bundy Boutwell.
Margaret was born June 3, 1918, in Coffee County, Alabama. She was the only one of their nine children not born in Covington County.
I can't remember her ever working in the fields. She kept house and did the cooking while mama worked in the fields.
She enjoyed reading pulp fiction magazines. Many is the time that I listened to her read stories from "Ranch Romance" to mama.
Ranch Romance magazine was popular in the thirities. I enjoyed watching dust beams dance on the window-sill and listening to her read.
One time Tellis walked thru the house singing" I'm walking the floor over you". "Who are you?" She asked. "I'm Earnest Tubb, the old Texas Troupadore." He replied. "Ok, Droopy Drawers, go play." She commanded.
Margaret died Nov. 24 1958, from complications caused by an accident at work. I will Always remember her strength of character and gentle disposition.
