Mrs. ELLEN BOTELER BACKUS, of Brownsville, died last night in Washington County Hospital. She was the widow of Garland Clifford Backus.
Born at Magnolia, near Brownsville, she was the daughter of the late Dr. R.H. and Rebecca (Hammond) Boteler and was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Brownsville.
She is survived by a son, Langdon Backus, of Brownsville; and a sister, Mrs. J. Hubert Knode, Boonsboro.
Funeral services were held at St. Luke's Church; interment was in St. Luke's Cemetery.
