Margaret Edith Arksey

Suddenly on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at the Portage District General Hospital, Margaret Edith Arksey of Portage la Prairie, beloved wife of Byron Arksey passed away at the age of 80 years.

Funeral service will be held at the Redeemer Lutheran Church on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 2:30 PM with Pastor John Blum officiating.

Interment will take place in Hillside Memorial Park.

Margaret was born on January 13, 1930 daughter of Arthur and Barbara Bosworth at Gladstone, Manitoba, where she was raised and received her education. She then taught school at the North Lakeland School. Here she met Byron Arksey and on December 6, 1950 they where married. They made their home on the farm west of Langruth where they raised their family of one son and two daughters. She operated The Style Shoppe Clothing Store and Gift shop from 1964 to 1984. She also wrote the Langruth news for the Portage Leader and Neepawa press for over twenty years. In 1994 they retired to make their home in Portage la Prairie.

Margaret was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and later the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Portage. She was an active member of the Langruth Community helping out at many community activities. She taught Sunday School for many years both in Langruth and Portage. Her interests included handy crafts, taking great pride and joy in painting pictures on stones and many friends, family and children have one as a keep sake. She also enjoyed her gardening, reading and her special times where spent with her family and grandchildren.

Predeceased by her parents, her sister Mildred Arksey, she leaves to mourn her passing her beloved husband of 59 years; Byron, her son; Donald (Chris) of Forrest, and their children Shawn and Andrea, her daughter; Glenda (Les) Enns of Winnipeg Beach and their children David (Sonia and their children Anika & Kiran) and Lori (Alex Renaud and their children Zaelyn & Theo), her daughter; Tammi (David) Brennan of Brandon and their children Kyle, Taylor and Nolan. Also surviving is her brother Frank of Victoria, BC, her sister Barbara Jackson of Gladstone and several nieces and nephews.

Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Margaret's name to the Redeemer Lutheran Church.
