Eugene Bossieux was born in December 5, 1854, in the Henrico County section of Richmond, Virginia, to Virginius Bossieux (1832-1910) and Ann Bossieux (née Stephens). In 1875, he married Annie Boyd, and they remained in the Henrico County section of Richmond, Virginia. His brother-in-law, Edwin S. Boyd, lived with them for much of their lives, and both Mr. Bossieux and Mr. Boyd worked as conductors on the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad.

However, Miss Bradley did not marry Virginius Bossieux until 1870, by which time Eugene Bossieux was 16 years old.
