Hermina Helena (Uiterdyk) Bos, 96, was called into her eternal heavenly home by her loving and compassionate Heavenly Father on Feb. 18, 2010, being "full of years." She died very peacefully of natural causes.

She was born in North Liberty, Iowa on Sept. 24, 1913, to Herman and Alice (dePoel) Uiterdyk, the third of four children.

The family lived on a farm until her father died of TB in 1915. They then moved to Michigan where her mother corresponded with, and later married, John Van Egmond at Coffee Creek, Montana. Hermina was raised on the farm near Arrow Creek, Montana, and graduated as class salutatorian from Arrow Creek High School.

She then worked in Billings for a time, and later in Bozeman, where she met and married John J. Bos, of Churchill. She and John were married on May 1, 1940 in the Manhattan Christian Reformed Church in a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Luwina, who married John Green.

Hermina resided on the family farm at Churchill with John until their retirement in 1981 when they moved to Belgrade. In 1985, they moved back to Churchill, and, after John's passing in 1993, she continued to live in the home in Churchill. After she broke a hip, she moved into the Personal Care Wing of Churchill Retirement Home in February 2009.

She was an active member of the Manhattan Christian Reformed Church, a member of the Dorcas Guild, and spent most of her earlier married life raising five sons. Later, she and John would travel to other states to visit the boys and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, William Uiterdyk; sister, Luwina (Uiterdyk) Green; brothers, Peter, William "Bill," and Harold Van Egmond; step-sister, Ann (Van Egmond) Vander Hoek; all of John's brothers and sisters; and all but three of her in-laws.

Hermina is survived by her brother, Henry Uiterdyk; sister, Irene (Van Egmond) Kimm; sisters-in-law: Willemina (Peter) Van Egmond, Dee (Bill Van Egmond) Price, and Jane (Peter) Bos; sons: Ken (Marlene), of Tucson, AZ, Harv (Milli), of Colorado Springs, CO, Al (Joan), of Manhattan, Loren (Gwen), of Tucson, and Glen (Kathy), of Tucson; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family of Hermina wishes to express our appreciation and thanks to the entire staff at the Churchill Retirement Home for the loving care given to her throughout this past year, and to the personnel from Rocky Mountain Hospice for your added assistance during these last couple of weeks. Thank you!

Family and friends are invited to meet at Manhattan Christian Reformed Church at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, to process to Churchill Cemetery for the graveside service. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at Manhattan Christian Reformed Church. Visitation, with the family present, will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.

Memorials may be made to the Bible League; or to the Manhattan Christian School Foundation Fund, 8000 Churchill Road, Manhattan, MT 59741.
