She was born January 14, 1927 in Amsterdam, the daughter of Leland and Mary Reddy Borst. She graduated from High School in Amsterdam and was later employed as an office clerk by General Electric Co. of Schenectady for several years. She cared for her family at home for most of her life. An avid bridge player, Elaine was a member The Church of the Holy Spirit. She volunteered at the former Mount Carmel School BINGO many years ago and was an election inspector in Gloversville.
She is survived by six children: Michael Majewski (Cheryl) of Gloversville, Maria Redmond of Skaneateles, Mark Balzano (Karen) of Gloversville, Macaire Benson (Eric) of Louisville, KY, Colonel John M. Balzano USAF (Kay) of San Antonio, TX and William J. Balzano of Vail, CO. 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.
Elaine was predeceased by her parents, also by both of her husbands: Raymond Majewski in 1952 and Mario Balzano in 1986; by both of her brothers: John Borst and Edward Borst and a son-in-law, Thomas Redmond.
Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
