Mary Elizabeth Borders Bartley, 82, Bardstown, died Aug. 24, 2009, at her residence. A native of Washington County, Bartley was a former employee of the old Bardstown Manufacturing and member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, James Ivo "Junior" Bartley; two sons, John Richard Bartley and John Thomas Bartley; parents, Charles Ernest "Shorty" and Mary Bess Murphy Borders; two sisters, Lucille Downs and Dorothy Mattingly; and a brother, J.C. Borders. Survivors include: a son, Joseph Hugh Bartley of Bardstown; three daughters, Emily Downs of Bardstown, Carol Mae Mattingly of Greenbriar and Diane Hite of Alvaton; a sister, Susan Knoppe of Bardstown; two brothers, Bill Borders of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Leo Borders of Bardstown; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. today, Aug. 26, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Bardstown, with burial in the church cemetery. Father Wally Dant will officiate. Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home, Bardstown, is in charge of arrangements

Mary Elizabeth Bartley, 82, Bardstown, died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at her residence. She was the former Elizabeth Borders, a native of Washington County, a former employee of the old Bardstown Manufacturing, a homemaker, a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and former member of the Homemakers Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ivo "Junior" Bartley, two sons, John Richard Bartley, John Thomas Bartley; her parents, Charles Ernest "Shorty" and Mary Bess Murphy Borders, two sisters, Lucille Downs and Dorothy Mattingly; and a brother, J.C. Borders.
