LAVALE, MD - Samuel William Border, 85, of Vocke Road, died Saturday, July 26, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Feb. 28, 1912, in Everett, Pa., he was the son of the late Edward and Vi (Greenawalt) Border. He also was preceded in death by one son, Gary W. Border; three brothers, James, Ira and Harvey Border; two sisters, Kathryn Byers and Pearl Crawford.

Mr. Border attended the LaVale Chapel Assembly of God. He was employed at the Celanese Corp for 18 years and retired from T.G. and S. Coal Company.

Surviving are his wife Maria (Knisley) Border; two sons, William K. Border and wife Dorothy, Martinsburg, W.Va., and Robert L. Border and wife Freda, Mount Airy, Md.; three brothers, David Border, Live Oaks, Calif., Henry Border, Homewood Addition, and John Border, LaVale; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends were received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Sunday.

Services were conducted at the funeral home chapel on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Pastor Rev. Stephen M. Schuessler officiating.

Interment was in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were John Ezzell, John Bullock, Roy Barnes, Kenneth Border, Josh Grimes and Tim Duter.
