Article in The Bienville Democrat December 10, 1925:
Accident Fatal to Miss Bessie Boone

Miss Bessie Boone, aged 61 years, 2 months and 23 days, died in Abilene, Texas Dec. 6, death being caused by a accidental fall on the doorsteps which crushed her skull. She was buried in the Mt. Lebanon cemetery Tuesday, Dec. 8, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. C.C. Young of Arcadia, who was assisted by Rev. J.R. Edwards of Ruston, Rev. J.L. Wise of New Orleans, and Rev. G.C. Odom of Bienville.

There were many appropriate and beautiful floral offerings brought by loving friends and relatives in Texas and Louisiana. A large concourse of people from many parts of the State gathered at the cemetery where the services were held.

Miss Boone was the daughter and oldest child of the late Judge J.T. Boone of this section of the State, and she had resided in Mt. Lebanon from early childhood and after her mother's death was the keeper of the home for her father and brothers and sisters. For many years she held the position of postmaster in the town and led a very active life as a citizen, as well as keeping up her duties as a home keeper.

In 1914 Miss Boone moved to Abilene, Texas, where she resided until the time of her unfortunate death from accident. She was a member of the First Baptist church there and funeral service was conducted by her pastor, Rev. J.W. Jenkins in Abilene, assisted by Mr. Ben McKinney, one of the boys who had known her in the good old days of her Mt. Lebanon residence.

Surviving her, and all present at her funeral, are two sisters, Mr. W.F. Shaffer of Abilene, Texas and Mrs. E.L. Lyles of Bunkie; four brothers, W.A. Boone of LeCampte, Judge J.H. Boone of Many, G.R. Boone of Arcadia, and W.A. Boone of Abilene, Texas.
