Billy Ray Bonds was born on March 9, 1940 to William D. and Thelma Gresham Bonds in Farmersville, Texas. He passed away at his home in Bowie, Texas on February 12, 2014.
On January 25, 1959 he married Rudie L. Herndon in Albuquerque, .New Mexico. They had just shared their 55 wedding anniversary. Rudie passed away on February 14, 2014.
Billy was a carpenter by trade but he also had many other trades.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Katherine L. Bonds and Laura Lee Bonds, brothers, Gurney D. Bonds and Donald L. Bonds, and sister Frieda L. Dickerson.
Rudie Lee Herndon Bonds was born on July 17, 1941 to Homer Gibson and Ida Obera Evans Moore and was raised by her mother and her adoptive father, Curtis Herndon.
Rudie was a homemaker.
Rudie is preceded in death by her parents, daughters, Katherine L. Bonds and Laura L. Bonds, brother, Homer Gene Herndon and sister, Frenna E. Missher.
Billy and Rudie are survived by son, Michael R. Bonds, daughter Margaret (NeeCee) McKinney and husband, Lee of Kaufman, Texas and Jennifer L. Beck of Lone Grove, Oklahoma; grandsons, Michael R. Bonds II, William M. Bonds, Brandon McKinney, Marshall McKinney, Ethan Alexander, Evan Alexander and great-granddaughter, Ti`ana R. Bonds, and longtime family friend, Dianna VanHouten.
Billy is survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Rudie is survived by her brothers Harvey “Joe” Herndon of Bowie, Texas and Donald R. Herndon and wife, Jan of Batesville, Arkansas, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitations will be held at Allen Funeral Home on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Funeral services for Billy and Rudie will be held at Allen Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Thompson Cemetery in Copeville, Texas.
