John Scott, the maternal grandfather of B. F. Bond, was a native of Ireland, and a Baptist minister; he lived near Ghent, Carroll County, where he died about 1847. John Bond, paternal grandfather of our subject, was a native of Virginia, a farmer by occupation, and one of the pioneer settlers of Carroll County.
