Relda was born on a farm near Carson, Iowa February 24, 1920, the daughter of S. Ray and Myrtle Petty Bolton. After graduation from Carson High School she attended American Institute of Business in Des Moines. She lived in the Des Moines area her entire adult life except for a brief time during World War II. She married Laurence (Larry) Armington January 1, 1941 at the Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Des Moines. She worked as a secretary for many years, including 20 years as secretary to 3 different bishops of the Methodist Church. She was a member of the WDM United Methodist Church and PEO Chapter KO. After retirement she served as a volunteer for several groups. Preceding her in death were her husband Larry in 1987, infant daughter Wendy Ellen in 1960, and daughter Carol Dieterichs in 2015.
