Emma Dale Bolton, the daughter of Irving Hayward and Emma Jane Moss Stevens, was born near Macedonia, Iowa on February 24, 1904. Emma affectionately known as Dale, attended the Macedonia High School and Graduated with the Class of 1922. She completed Normal Training for Teachers at Cedar Falls College and taught rural school in the Carson and Macedonia area.
Dale and Carl Merritt Bolton were Married on November 19, 1929 at her parent's home. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of sons, Harvey Stevens Bolton and Dale Gene Bolton. Dale and Carl farmed east of Henderson and Carl owned and operated an insurance agency. Dale continue to live on the farm until October 1993, when she moved to the Oakland Manor. Dale was a member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for several years. She was a Charter Member of the L.D.T. Women's Federated Club and a member of the Macedonia American Legion Auxiliary, Macedonia W.S.C.S. and the Macedonia and Henderson Senior Citizens.
Dale died at the age of 92 years on September 10, 1996 at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carl on June 8, 1972, son Dale Gene in 1992; stepmother, Eula Lewis Stevens; a granddaughter and two great granddaughters, and daughter-in-law, Emma Mary Bolton. She is survived by her son Harvey Stevens Bolton and his wife Darlene; grandchildren, Ken and wife Margo Bolton, Mary Jo and husband Terry Ungry; Deb and husband Mark Ditcher, Ruth and husband, Mike Diers; Monty and wife Mary Bolton; Rod Bolton and fiancee, Janice Note; fifteen great grandchildren; sisters Georgia Bolton of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and Ruth Stevens of Omaha, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Macedonia First Methodist Church on September 14, 1996 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Doug Tharpe, officiant. Interment was in the Macedonia Cemetery.
The pall bearers were Mary Keichler, Rod Bolton, Terry Ungry, Ken Bolton, Monty Bolton, Mike Deirs, and Merrill Slump. Honorary pall bearers were the great grandchildren, Callie Deitchler, Andi Diers, Jake Deitchler, Alex Noto, Stacey Bolton, Aaron Ungry, Kenna Bolton, Jay Ungry, Kelsey Bolton, Jake Bolton, Kelly Bolton, Jeremy Bolton, Vanessa Noto, Molly Bolton, and Carly Deitchler.
The flowers committee were the granddaughters, Deb Ditcher, Barb Diers, Mary Jo Ungry, Mary Bolton, Margo Bolton, and Janice Noto.
Wilma Trent and Marjorie Killinger were in charge of the registry book while Max Bisbee, James Holt, Eldred Storm, Larry Husz were ushers.
Darlync Hobson was the oganist and Marilynn Pillings wee the Pianist with the selections of "You'll Never Walk Alone", "Peace In The Valley", and "God Be With You Till We Meet Again."
McKee Hertz Funeral Home of Carson was in charge of the arrangements.
