Alice F. Bolger, 100, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011, in her home. Alice was born Oct. 8, 1910, in Woodstock, the daughter of Edward and Gertrude McCarthy Field. She attended St. Mary Catholic Grade School in Woodstock and was a member of the first graduating class of St. Mary Catholic High School, Woodstock. She earned her bachelor's degree from Rosary College in River Forest. Alice taught at Streamwood Elementary School for 13 years before retiring. Alice was a charter member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin. She volunteered at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin for over 20 years and was very active with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra League for many years. Surviving are two children, John D. (Jane) Bolger of Woodstock and Mary Barbara (Eric) Anderson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two grandchildren, John D. (Marna) Bolger of Chicago and Anne (John) Bulger of Huntley; and two great-grandsons, Aidan Luke Bulger and Evan Bolger. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Bolger; one brother, Oliver F. Field; and a sister, Mary Jane Field. The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Woodstock. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Provena Hospice.
