Death: Feb. 15, 2013

SILVERTON - Edith "Evelyn" Bennett, 86, of Silverton, is now with her Lord and Savior. She died peacefully on February 15, 2013 with family by her side.

Evelyn was born to the late Robert and Faye Boies, November 4, 1926, in Mangum Creek, Oklahoma and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1944. She moved with her parents and sister to Salem, Oregon and settled in the Lake Labish area in 1947 where she soon met and married the late Gerald "Bud" Bennett. Together they had four children and farmed onions for more than forty years.

Evelyn was a housewife and stay-at-home mom where she grew flowers, abundant vegetable gardens, and enjoyed canning and sewing. She was an excellent cook and also enjoyed baking. After her children were grown she began china painting and went on to open her own painting studio where she taught her art for thirty-five years. She was a member of the Willamette Valley Porcelain Artists, the World Organization of China Painters, and International Porcelain Art Teachers. She won numerous awards for her painting throughout her art career.

Evelyn went to live at Marquis Care Silver Gardens in Silverton, Oregon in 2007. While there she was voted to the Rose Festival Queen's Court, attending the annual Senior Rose Queen Tea in Portland, Oregon. We want to thank them for all the loving care she received while there.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Gerald "Bud" Bennett and by her sister, Bettie Corrigan. She is survived by four children: Greg (Judy) Bennett, Gerry (Kathy) Bennett, Edith (Mike) Davis, and Glenn (Terri) Bennett, all of Salem, Oregon. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Donations can be made in Evelyn's memory to Odyssey Hospice: 2925 River Rd. S #100, Salem, OR 97302.

Funeral services will be held at Labish Center Community Evangelical Church at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 22, 2013. A private interment will be held at Belle Passi Cemetery in Woodburn, Oregon. Arrangements are by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
