KEWASKUM, Wis. Alice C. (Bohn) Bales, 82, from the Town of Scott, Kewaskum, Wis., died peacefully Saturday, July 12, 2003, surrounded by her family at Community Memorial Hospital.

Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church of St. Michael's, with Father Robert J. Artmann as celebrant. Closing of the Casket Prayers will be Thursday at 9:45 a.m. at Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, West Bend, Wis. Burial will be at Holy Angels Cemetery in West Bend, Wis.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Phillip Funeral Home, where a Prayer Vigil will be held at 8 p.m., with Father Michael Patterson as celebrant.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Convent of Campbellsport, Wis.

She was born Jan. 29, 1921, in West Bend, Wis., to Edward and Caroline (Wagner) Bohn and married Sylvester J. Bales on May 4, 1943, at St. John of God Church in the Town of Farmington. He died July 31, 2001.

She was raised in West Bend, Wis., and attended Rusco Elementary School and Holy Angels School. She was a 1939 graduate of West Bend High School and retired from Fairmont Foods of Kewaskum after 30 years.

She was a published poet, a Gold Star Mother and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, genealogy and corresponding with her friends and family via, e-mail.

She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church of St. Michael's and was a past member and liturgist at St. Matthias Catholic Church in the Town of Auburn.

Surviving are daughters, Sue Barcus and her fiance, Gary Rochester of Wooster, Barbara (Dennis) Pionkowski of Waldo, Wis., and Beth Ann Bales of Grafton, Wis.; grandchildren, Jacqueline (Jeff) Rose of Jeromesville, Jeffrey Pionkowski of Minneapolis, Minn., and Aaron (Erin) Reigle of Bebee, Ark.; great-grandchildren, Hannah Marie Rose and James Doyle Rose; a sister, Eleanor (Merlin) Enright of Random Lake, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Bohn of Sheboygan, Wis., and Marion Bohn of West Bend, Wis.; sisters- and brothers-in-law on her husband's side, Dolores (Robert) Hoeft, Rosalie (Walter) Hoeft, Sylvia (Eugene) Belunes, Raymond (Loretta) Bales, Alex (Marie) Bales and Margaret (the late Franklin) Bales, all of West Bend, Wis.

In addition to her husband, her parents, children, Cliff and Kristie, three brothers and a sister died previously.
