Joseph "Edgar" Boerner, 77, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. He was the husband of Barbara Ann (Berry) Boerner, his wife of 54 years.

Edgar was born on March 26, 1939 on the family farm in
Hampstead, and was the son of the late William and Verna Ray (Shaffer) Boerner.

Edgar attended Hampstead High School until the 10th grade when he enlisted in the Army and served in the Reserves for 8 years. In 1969 he started his own construction business. In 1991 his son, Joey, joined the business and continues to run it today under J. Edgar Boerner & Son, LLC. Edgar was a life long farmer and started The Boerner Farm on Garrett Rd. From the farm he sold pumpkins, hay and produce.

He was a member of the United Coon Hunters Association of Hampstead. In his earlier years he raced stock cars, in his car B29, at Lincoln Speedway. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting with his hounds. He also enjoyed his three mules, Sarge, Jenny, and Dusty.

In his past time he attended auctions, and would join his friends for coffee at Pleasant Hill Jiffy Mart. Above all Edgar was a family man. There is nothing more he loved then spending time with his grandchildren and family on his farm.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children, Angela J. (Angie) Boerner of Manchester, Amy J. Boerner and partner, Kyle Pritts of Westminster, and Joseph E. "Joey" Boerner, Jr. and wife, Marci of Manchester; grandchildren, Meagan Whitson and husband, Todd, Jonathan Riecke, Grant and Garrett Boerner; sister-in-law, Nancy Boerner of Westminster; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Helen LaRue Boog, Verna Luray Leppo, Violet Lucille Lippy, and William Sterling Boerner.

A funeral service will be held with the Rev. Donna Sharp officiating. Interment will be private.
