Millville, Utah: Allan James Bodily was born on August 27, 1978 in Logan, Utah to James J. Bodily and Connie Carlisle Bodily. He died February 6, 2004 in his sleep. He was a special child who was diagnosed with Wolfram Syndrome when he was about 13 years old. This is a genetic disorder that causes deafness, blindness, diabetes and diabetes inspidus.

He was born deaf and attended the Utah School for the Deaf for 17 years. He had wonderful teachers there who helped him grow, learn and become the wonderful young man that he was. He developed diabetes when he was 4 and amazingly learned to cope with all of the problems that come with that. He started losing his eyesight when he was 11 and eventually became blind. He had two great guide dog friends, Sydney now living in Denver, Colorado and Kelli.

Allan graduated from the Utah School for the Deaf and Logan High School in 1997. He was one of the speakers at the graduation ceremony for the Utah School for the Deaf. He also attended school at the Bridgerland Area Technology Center and a few classes at Utah State University. He was very optimistic about his life and influenced many people for the good with his attitude.

He was a member of the Cache Valley Deaf Branch in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he was a home teacher.. The members there were very good to him and many thanks are owed to them for their friendship and help. He also attended the Millville 2nd Ward which is where he earned his eagle scout award. He planted trees at the Millville Park for his eagle project. They will stand as a reminder of him for many years to come. He loved to hike and fish and continued those activities even after he became blind.

He loved playing baseball and participated in little league until he lost his eyesight. He was also involved in the Cache Valley Soccer League. He loved to follow the Utah Jazz and that was one of the hardest things for Allan when he could no longer watch the Jazz play. Allan was able to travel the United States and attended many conventions with the deaf-blind. He learned to read braille very well and was an avid participant of the reading program with the Utah State Library for the Blind. He had many interveners who helped him in his daily activities and became his friends.

Many thanks are also owed to the members of the Cache Valley community who have helped him and watched out for him. He was not afraid to try new and adventurous things and enjoyed life. Allan, you can now see the stars again.

He is survived by his parents of Millville. His grandparents, Milton & Dawna Carlisle of Logan and Irene Bodily of Mendon. His sister, Janice, Shelley, ID, brothers, Mark (Shauni), Ryan, Millville, and Cameron, serving a mission in the New Hampshire Manchester Mission. His good friend, Keri-Ann Ruemmler of Shawnee Hills, Kansas and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ned James Bodily and his uncle, Lee Bodily.
