NEW ALBANY -- Alberta Geneva (Heinze) Board, 90, passed away Tuesday evening at Hospice & Palliative Care of Louisville's inpatient unit at Norton Healthcare Pavilion. Alberta was born in Floyd County, IN, on October 13, 1912. She was a devoted wife and mother and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Albany. She is survived by three sons, Thomas R. Board and wife, Anna, of Austin, TX, James Michael Board of McAllen, TX, and Jerry Lynn Board and fiancée, June Wilson, of Clarksville, IN; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Lillian Heinze and Mary "Sis" Heinze and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hartman Board; sisters, Loretta Dohoney and Addie Smith; brothers, Emid, Phillip and Virgil Heinze; and daughter-in-law, Donna Bott Board. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of New Albany. Generations Funeral Home in New Albany is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Louisville.
