Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Blumhagen were held Sunday, January 11, 1998 at
2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church at Castalia, Iowa. The Schutte Funeral
Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.

Alice Ruth Blumhagen, the daughter of Eben and Pearl (Vance) Teetshorn was born
January 12, 1919. She died Thursday, January 8, 1998 at Gundersen Lutheran
Health Center, LaCrosse, Wisc. after a sudden illness. She was 78.

She was raised on a farm near Ridgeway, Iowa and was educated at a rural school
near her home. On October 4, 1939 she was married to Alvin Blumhagen. They had
three children. The couple lived in the Castalia area until the death of her
husband when Alice moved to Waukon. She worked many years as a waitress until
her retirement. Last September she moved to the Waukon Living Center.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alvin on December 31,
1979; a grandson, Haidain Rawson; 2 brothers: Earl and Vince Teetshorn; 3
sisters: Edith Huhe and Marian and Elva Teetshorn.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Joyce (Karel) Rawson of West Union; 2 sons,
Gary (Jane) Blumhagen of West Union and Dennis (Donna) Blumhagen of Castalia;
many grandchildren and great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Ralph Teetshorn of
Ridgeway and Roy (Martha) Teetshorn of Decorah.

Her favorite pass times were dancing, playing cards and being with friends. She
enjoyed raising flowers and caring for her lawn. Family was important to her and
she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
