Arthur C. Blum, 86, who was a native of Gaston and longtime resident of his area, died April 22 at a Salem nursing home following an extended illness.

Funeral for Mr. Blum was held Wednesday, April 26 at the family plot at the Forest View Cemetery, Forest Grove. Rev. Richard Perry, pastor of the First Christian Church of Forest Grove, officiated with arrangements in care of the Fuiten Mortuary.

Mr. Blum was the son of pioneer families in the Gaston area, William and Anna Doughty Blum. He was born December 9, 1885 at Gaston and lived all of his early life there. He married Emma M. Morgan on November 11, 1917 in Hillsboro and after their marriage they lived in Forest Grove until 1923 when they moved to Vernonia. They lived at Vernonia (with the exception of 1941 to 1946 when they lived at Dilley) from 1923 until he moved to Salem in 1962. Mrs. Blum died here in 1960.

Surviving is a son, Art E. Blum and two grandchildren, Steven and Darcie, all of Salem.
