Charles Blubaugh, 83, of 180 Antietam Drive, Waynesboro, PA, died at 3:55 A.M. Sunday, August 31, 2003 in the Waynesboro Hospital. He was in failing health for the past year and critically ill for the past three months.

Born September 15, 1919 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Elizabeth (Cole) Blubaugh. He lived all his life in the Tomstown and Waynesboro areas.

Mr. Blubaugh served in the United States Army during W.W.II, serving state side.

He and his wife of over 62 years, Mrs. Gladys L. (Needy) Blubaugh were married September 14, 1940 in Middletown, MD. They moved to the present residence December 22, 1997.

Mr. Blubaugh was employed in his early life as a mason tender, and then was a butcher with the family business. Then following the military, he and Herbert Allen owned and operated B&A Market and later Dutch Kitchen both of Waynesboro, then from 1955 into 1958 worked for Brown's Buick and then Waynesboro Ford. In 1958 he started Blubaugh's Auto Sales in Rouzerville and was later joined by his son Charles. The business is now called Blubaugh's Tire & Wheel Sales. He retired in 1989.

He was a member of Otterbein United Brethren In Christ Church, Waynesboro.

He enjoyed golfing, and when he was a member of the Waynesboro Country Club, he had two, "Holes-In-Ones" at the same hole.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Susan R. Hartman, Chambersburg, Catherine M. Welsh, Newville, PA, two sons, Charles J. Blubaugh, Jr., Waynesboro, Franklin M. Blubaugh, Lady Lake, Florida, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one sister, Janet Holtz, Wynnwood, PA, one brother, Warren Blubaugh, Fairfield, PA and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 10 sisters and brothers.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 3, 2003 in Otterbein United Brethren In Christ Church, 801 Park Street, Waynesboro with Pastor Bill Schuit officiating. Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
