"...she told me that her grandmother's name was Anna Dirteater. Anna Dirteater had two daughters, Maggie and Sarah. She said Sarah Anne Dirteater is her Mother. Sarah Anne Dirteater had another marriage to a Chaudoin, which produced her brother Johnny Chaudoin. ...and mentioned that her Aunt Maggie Dirteater married a Sourjohn."

Tulsa, OK - Beatrice Gwendolyn Vann-Grimmett Bloom was born on July 15th, 1923 in Moodys, OK, the daughter of Sarah Dirteater, and raised by John and Mary Grimmett. She attended school in Cherokee County and then began her career as a Nurse Aide. Beatrice was a full blood Cherokee and very proud of her heritage and tradition. She spoke the Cherokee language fluently. She had three sons and one daughter, George Buzzard, Phillip Wilmon, Franklin Wachtel, and Ramona Brown. When she wasn't working, Beatrice really enjoyed spending time with friends eating out and maybe spending a few minutes at the casino. She was talented with crosswords and puzzles. She was strong willed, spirited and had a stubborn streak. A Christian by faith, Beatrice was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church. Beatrice began to have failing health and moved to Tulsa where she resided until her passing, Thursday, November 20th, 2014. She was 91 years old. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Beatrice is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Josephine and one brother John.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, George Buzzard of Melbourne, FL, Phillip Wilmon of Albuquerque, NM, Franklin 'Gene' Wachtel of Washington, and Ramona (Bloom) Brown of Kennewick, WA. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren, Ratonia Clayton of Graham, WA, Phil Bush and wife Vivian of Albuquerque, NM, Cody Wilmon of Albuquerque, Matthew Wylie of Albuquerque, Timothy Brown of Washington, Keith Brown of Kennewick, WA, James Wachtel of Hawaii, Heidi Wachtel of Cheney, WA, and Theresa Speer-Vallery of Clearfield, UT. She also leaves two great granddaughters, Juliana and Georgia Speer-Vallery as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
