Ralph Clarence Blood Jr., Taylors Falls, Minn., died September 25, 2003, at Regions Hospital, St. Paul, Minn. He was 70 years old.

Ralph was born March 19, 1933, in Shafer Township, son of Ralph Sr. and Pearl (Hill) Blood. He graduated from Taylors Falls School in 1952. Ralph married Bonnie Jean Hume (who died August 30, 2001) on Sept. 19, 1959, in Taylors Falls, Minn.

Ralph started his working life on the farm in Jericho district of Shafer Township milking cows and later raising pigs and beef cows. Ralph spent most of his years in the City of Taylors Falls Maintenance Dept. (1970-1990). There was no person who knew the layout of all the water and sewer lines as well as Ralph and the city continued to consult with him when they had problems finding a water or sewer line. He also spent 30 years driving school bus for the Taylors Falls School. He also worked at Rivard's gas station, Pearson Plumbing & Heating and hauled milk for Dibbles Trucking to Turtle Lake Creamery. He served as town cop on occasion, and coached Little League baseball.

He was a very active member on both the Shafer Township Board and the Kahbakong Cemetery Board. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Taylors Falls and sang in the church choir and would love to ring the bells at church with one of the kids helping.

He was a faithful member of the Lions Club and for years belonged to the Dresser Driftbusters snowmobile club. His hobbies included horseback riding in his teen-age years, playing cards at the Fire Hall in Almelund Threshing Bee Parade. You could always find him having breakfast at the Chisago House with friends.

Memorials may be earmarked for the Taylors Falls Lions Park or Taylors Falls Elementary School.

Funeral service was held on Monday, Sept. 29, at the United Methodist Church, Taylors Falls, Minn. Pastor Sheldon officiated. Internment was at Kahbakong Cemetery in Taylors Falls, Minn.

The Edling Funeral Home, St. Croix Falls, assisted the family with arrangements.
